空に開く花びら
上海市閔行区に建設されたテニスセンターである。敷地面積20ha、メインスタジアムは15,000席の規模を有し、8枚の花びらのような屋根がカメラのシャッターのように開く世界初の新しいタイプの開閉屋根機構をもつ。開閉の過程において、各屋根間のクリアランス形状は刻一刻と変化し、天空からの光の表情も変化に富んだものとなり、全開したときには従来のスライド式開閉屋根にはない、高い開口率を持つ。竣工後は、多機能なイベントセンターとしての役割も果たしている。
Flower petals open to the sky
This is a tennis center built in the Min-hang District of Shanghai. With a total area of 20 hectares, the main stadium has a capacity for 15,000 spectators. The first of its kind in the world, the roof has a new style of opening mechanism, where eight panels like petals of a flower move open and close like a camera shutter. The shape of the opening will change as the roof opens and closes, giving the light from the sky a variety of expressions. Another characteristic is that the percent that the roof opens when it is completely open is much higher than that of conventional sliding type movable roofs.
